What I learned

I have learned a lot through the course of the semester, I know how many countries including our own prepares for natural disasters. Every country has there own hazards that occurs in their own country, that range from floods to volcanic eruptions. I know how earthquakes occur, and the different boundaries like, Divergent, Convergent, Transform. There are many plates involved when it come to Convergent boundaries such as ocean-ocean, ocean- continent, and continent-continent, they all have their own dynamics and end result. This natural hazard occur often and cause a lot of damage to property and loos of human life when an earthquake hits high on the Richter scale. Every country has their way of educating their citizens on how to get through earthquakes and the events that happen afterwards. Thing that can occur after are tsunamis or when the seafloor sits on top of the Earth's crust and shifts up or down during a earthquake. These events have killed thousand in the recent years. Another natural hazard that puts lives and properties in risk are volcanoes. There are many active volcanoes that put people's  lives in danger if they erupt, they shot out ash into the sky causing ash to rain down on the people. There are many types of volcano such as continental caldera, stratovolcano, and shield.  There can someday be a super volcano that can erupt in Yellow National Park in the U.S. Along with volcanoes we have to be ware of the different weather that countries get from season to season. Some countries get a lot of rain or a little, extreme heat waves or severe thunder storms, and even cold winters. This could be because of climate change or just the way the weather is like in different countries, but climate change has been due to the amount of co2 we as humans have put in the air and we need to cut back in order to save the planet and oceans. This has melted the polar ice caps and increase the sea levels and temperature. This also leads to flood for some place that have snow covered mountains and the ice that turns into water flows down to the rivers that can cause floods and land wasting, like landslides. We build dams in order to control the water and when it floods to release some in order keep it form over flowing by doing this the beaches are harmed. The beaches lose all the sediment they receive form the rivers and cause erosion. We need the beauty of the beaches because of the environment is important and also important to the people that makes a living because of the tourism. If we as humans keeps interfering with the environment in a negative way we will lose all the beauty that this world has to offer. We can also lose everything in a blind of a eye if we are hit by a asteroid that we do not watch our skies and come up with something to stop it from entering and making impact. That can cause a major loss of life depending on size, speed , and location. Like the one that in hit in 1908 in Siberia, it was like 10 Hydrogen bomb. If you like to learn more check out this book
